STEM Reading List: Dentistry

	You Wouldn’t Want to Live Without Dentists! By: Fiona Macdonald Illustrated by: David Antram Following the same format as the other books in the You Wouldn t Want to Live Without series, Macdonald presents interesting facts about, in her words, a not so old profession–dentistry. Beginning with a timeline that expands across the inside cover and along the first page, the reader is taken on a historical journey of the field of dentistry, which supposedly began in 3000 BCE with the earliest-known tooth treatment. Each two-page spread explores the history of various dental topics: tooth types, including animal teeth; treatment of toothaches; and who pulled teeth before dentists. Interesting facts about false teeth, the invention of dental equipment, and the toothbrush are explained through fun illustrations.

	A Day in the Life of a Dentist By: Heather Adamson Young readers can learn how Dr. Jong spends her day as a dentist. Includes information such as what happens during a check-up, what happens in a dentist’s lab, and what tools do dentists use. Readers will see how busy a dentist stays during the day.
	Max and Zoe at the Dentist By: Shelley Swanson Sateren Illustrated by: Mary Sullivan Zoe helps Max feel brave when he has to go to the dentist to have two teeth pulled.
