Award of the Week: Star of the North Picture Book Award

Minnesota Youth Reading Awards organization (MYRA) facilitates the Children’s Choice Book Awards for readers in the state of Minnesota. The purpose of MYRA is to promote literacy, create lifelong reading habits, and broaden cultural awareness for the children and young adults of Minnesota. In 2013 the Star of the North Picture Book Award was established. The purpose of the award is to promote quality, engaging picture books and reading for pleasure among school-aged children.

	Big Cat, Little Cat Written and illustrated by: Elisha Cooper A moving tale about friendship, new beginnings, and cats. A big white cat welcomes a new little black cat to the home. As time passes, the little black cat will need to take over the role of the big cat.
	Give Me Back My Book! By: Travis Foster and Ethan Long Two friends, Redd and Bllo, argue over the possession of one special book with a green cover, hard cover, a nice spine, and pages turn from right to left–but unite when Bookworm walks off with it.
