Hi Everyone!

When I was entering my senior year of college my father asked me, “What’s next, what do you want to do?”  It is still the case now as it was then, I wasn’t too sure but I was excited to figure it out.  After stints as an Elementary Education Major and Psychology Major I had decided on History because I liked hearing people’s story.  I wasn’t on track to become a History teacher so my future career was unclear to me at the time.  I suppose or at least I like to believe that is how it is for the majority of other college seniors.  The conversation continued and my ever wise father mentioned library school.  So…I applied and was accepted to the University at Buffalo and went on to earn my MLS.  Sure this isn’t the fairy tale “what do you want to be when you grow up story” but it’s my story and 10 years later I can say that library school was the beginning of what has been a very fun and interesting journey to my current role as an academic librarian in a teaching materials library and to my newest adventure as a contributor for CLCD.

To make a long story somewhat short I have worked as  a School Library Media Specialist at the K-12 levels, a Medical Librarian, and a Youth Services Librarian at a public library.  Variety is the spice of life and I am grateful for the doors that have been opened to me through my MLS.  Each role has given me unique opportunities whether it was being a chaperone on a student council trip to Boston, diagnosing myself with numerous illnesses while creating bibliographies for doctors, or playing Santa’s elf at a holiday pajama storytime.  I love what I do and I love that books are the fuel for all of it.  I am happy to join CLCD to bring you themed book lists and other relative information in your endeavors to find the best and brightest books out there.

My name is Betsy Davison and I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and librarian!  I am happy to be here!  Please be sure to follow this site for new and exciting book lists.
